Melanie and Adam K. wed @ The Fairmont Washington D.C.

Melanie and Adam where do we even begin! When I said that we have some fabulous clients in the 2010 year I wasn’t joking. Melanie and Adam are no exception to that statement, June is going to be a blast as our clients are the craziest this month 😉 in an awesome way that is!

Melanie and Adam were our jump start for the month at The Fairmont Hotel in Washington DC. Mark, over at The Fairmont Hotel is just as fabulous as can be, I have to say he is a man after many hearts especially those who work along side of him! Mark is on the ball not missing a beat, much love goes out to him along with Laura Auer of Wish Special Events for keeping everyone squared away on such a warm and beautiful day!

Where should we start when it comes to Adam and Melanie… as glad as we are for them to finally tie the knot, we are equally sad that the wedding day flew right on by, we will certainly miss Melanie as a Bride, there was no detail that she missed or left behind. The groom Adam, for those of you who just simply need a little joy and laughter in your life, he is your man. Adam can bring a smile to anyone and within seconds make the new kid feel at ease. Totally explains how they met on campus in Georgetown, who could avoid falling in love with such an awesome tour guide!

We hope that the two of you stay close and keep in touch, we look forward to keeping up with and following the adventures of Melanie and Adam as they grow their own family tree 😉

Their day consisted of lots of little details like the fabulous Carl Ray on the make-up, yeah he is a little detail that no bride should forget to put at the top of their list! Don’t have a make-up artist yet, considered it checked and get him on the phone! Flowers by the lovely Distinctive Floral Designs elegantly executed I must say. And last but not least Blue Sky Films on the video, one of our favorites as they are the most unobtrusive videographers out there in the metropolitan area. For Melanie’s wedding they used a film called “Super 8” and we cannot wait to see how it turned out. Has me thinking Charlie Chaplin movie, how cool is that! Last but not least Chris Laich for the music, got to keep them dancing! Oh, oh, oh one more Posh Booth, we love Neil and the gang over there, the booths make for a lot of fun and memories! Lots of love to everyone… and a big thanks to a girlfriend who reminded me not to forget the shoutouts and the love to all the professionals we work with. We were getting a little lazy and slacking, but they are very important since having the best team makes such a big difference during every brides wedding day!

Here’s the quiet truth no one tells guests before an Indian or Indian-American wedding:

You’re not just watching.
You’re participating.
Not with choreography or rituals — but with presence.

Indian weddings move differently.
They breathe differently.
They carry meaning in moments that don’t announce themselves.

When guests arrive expecting efficiency, cues, or constant explanation, tension builds — and the couple feels it.

What actually matters?
Respect.
Patience.
Openness.
That’s it.

This post isn’t about rules or etiquette.
It’s about showing up with curiosity instead of expectations — and why that one shift changes everything for the couple at the center of it all.

There’s what you see on wedding day.
And then there’s everything that makes us the photographers we are.

This channel is where we share the in-between —
the building, the learning, the late nights,
the marriage that has carried us through nearly two decades of photographing other people’s love stories.

We’re still very much in weddings.
Still shooting.
Still telling stories.
Still showing up for our couples.
But here, you’ll also see how we live, work, problem-solve, and grow together behind the camera —
because who we are off a wedding day shapes how we show up on one.

If you’re planning a wedding,
work in the wedding industry,
or simply love honest conversations about partnership, creativity, and building a life together —
you’ll fit right in.

Thanksgiving Eve feels extra tender this year.

Grateful for the families we were born into — and the families we’ve built through brides, grooms, parents, friends, vendors, and our SAWL community.

You’ve welcomed us like your own, and we carry that love every day.

A little note from our hearts is live on the blog, if you are into the sappy stuff!

💕 The Regeti’s
Yesterday I shared Birju’s baraat as a reel — the color, the music, the movement.
But today, I’m sharing the meaning behind it.

There’s so much more to that moment than drums and dancing… and I felt called to write about it — about family, lineage, belonging, and what Indian-American communities represent in this country far beyond what meets the eye.

If you’ve ever looked at a baraat and wondered what you’re really witnessing — or if you believe America is at its best when we understand each other a little more — this one is worth reading.

It’s a story of culture, love, legacy… and why celebrations like this matter far more than most people realize.

Regeti Feature Friday ✨

Some Vidai's feel ceremonial…
and then there are Vidaiis like this.

Palak and her grandfather — a moment that says everything without a single word.
You could feel the attachment, the history, the love that only a grandparent carries.

Vidai isn’t just a goodbye.
It’s generations holding on… and letting go… all at once.

If you want storytellers who notice the moments that matter most, explore more at theregetis.com.

What makes a South Asian fusion wedding fusion?
Hint: It’s not just about skin tone or who’s marrying outside the culture.

Fusion happens when:
✨ Two Indian families speak different languages
✨ Two regional traditions meet under one mandap
✨ Two religions blend with respect
✨ Two American upbringings reinterpret cultural roots
✨ Two worlds — any worlds — choose love over labels

This is why we chose this niche.
Because fusion isn’t a buzzword.
It’s the lived experience of so many Indian-American couples navigating identity, culture, family, and love — all at once.

Today’s blog touches the real heart of fusion weddings, including:

✨ How wardrobe, rituals & food carry generational meaning
✨ Why family dynamics are the true fusion challenge
✨ What makes these weddings emotionally rich and unforgettable
If you’re planning a fusion or Indian-American wedding — or simply love seeing two worlds become one — this one is for you.
