Abigail & Corey’s Wedding at Poplar Springs Manor — A Full-Circle Warrenton Love Story

By Amy & Srinu Regeti — The Regeti’s | South Asian Wedded Life (SAWL

Some weddings don’t just land on your calendar — they land in your heart long before the date ever arrives. Abigail and Corey’s wedding at the Poplar Springs Manor.

Abigail and Corey’s celebration at Poplar Springs Manor was that kind of day — the kind that greets you with a deep breath the moment you step onto the property, as if the land itself is whispering, “Welcome home.”

And in so many ways… this was home.

How Life Found Its Way Back to Poplar Springs Manor

For anyone who’s known us for more than five minutes, you’ve probably heard us say — usually with a smile and a half-joking seriousness — that the two most important people in your life are:

  1. Your pediatrician
  2. Your real estate agent

It sounds funny out loud, but there’s truth tucked in there. These are the two people who shape your beginnings — where you raise your babies, and who help you keep them healthy and safe.

And for us, our pediatrician isn’t just a doctor.
He is family — one of our most trusted friends, confidants, and anchors. The kind of soul who carries gentleness in his hands and goodness in his presence. When you meet someone with energy like that, you understand why beautiful people find each other. Because he did — in his wife, Jennifer.

We photographed Jennifer and our pediatrician, the one and only Dr. Joshua Jakum, wedding on Thanksgiving Day in 2017. A day filled with warmth, blessings, and community.
And it was there — in all that joy — that we first met Abigail.

Quiet, soft-spoken, kind to her core. The sort of young woman whose essence lingers with you long after you’ve said goodbye.

Never in a million years did we imagine that nearly eight years later — just a month shy of their anniversary — we would be documenting her wedding.
But life has a poetic sense of timing. It circles back. It returns us to the beginnings.

And this time, it brought us right back to Poplar Springs Manor — the very first wedding venue we ever photographed all those years ago.

The Venue That Feels Like a Memory

Poplar Springs Manor has always been one of Warrenton’s treasures — the long winding driveway, the quiet that settles the moment the world falls away behind you, the rustic charm that never tries too hard because it doesn’t need to.

Today, under new ownership, the property is undergoing beautiful renovations — including a stunning ballroom that has breathed new life into this Fauquier County gem.
And yet, even with the updates, the essence remains untouched:

The peace.
The nature.
The invitation to exhale.

For couples getting married here, it’s not just a venue.
It’s an experience that begins the moment the tires touch gravel.

And for us, standing there again with Abigail and Corey felt like opening a time capsule.
Different year, different couple — but the same magic in the air.

Abigail, Corey, and the Puppy That Stole the Show

If you’ve ever wondered whether a golden retriever could steal the spotlight from a bride and groom, let us gently introduce you to Peekachu.

P Abigail Corey Wed Oct 2025 0544
https://theregetis.com

Peekachu isn’t just a dog.
She’s a Disney character come to life — bright eyes, soft fur, tail wagging like she’s narrating her own soundtrack.

And the story goes… she’s the one who sealed the deal between Abigail and Corey.
Pure, unapologetic puppy love.

Watching her trot down the aisle like she’d trained for this moment her entire life?
Unforgettable.

A Ceremony in the Treeline, A Reception in the Ballroom

The ceremony took place beneath the towering treeline overlooking the lake — the light slipping through the branches in that gentle, golden way Virginia does so well.

Their vows felt intimate and grounded.
The kind that reminds you what weddings are truly about — not trends, not décor, not choreography — but two people choosing each other, fully and presently.

The reception poured into the new ballroom — a room filled with heart, dance, and the joy only close-knit families create.

Not loud.
Not extravagant.
Just meaningful in all the right places.

Why This One Matters So Much to Us

The honor of photographing a wedding comes with its own quiet responsibility.
Not just to capture what happened — but to witness what mattered.

P Abigail Corey Wed Oct 2025 1843

That’s what we’ve always believed in.

Not the curated moments made for social media,
but the real ones — the ones that unfold naturally, beautifully, and without pretense.

With Abigail and Corey, that truth showed up everywhere:

The way her mom looked at her before she walked down the aisle.
The way Corey softened every time he glanced her way.
The way their families blended without force — just love.
The way Peekachu curled up near their chairs like she knew she belonged to their story, too.

P Abigail Corey Wed Oct 2025 1718

We don’t take that lightly.

And for the couples of Warrenton, Fauquier County, and anyone dreaming of Poplar Springs Manor — our promise remains simple:

We don’t chase trends. We preserve truth.
We don’t aim for viral. We aim for meaningful.
We aren’t here for the reel. We’re here for the real.

Every single time.

If this wedding stole our hearts (and it truly did), we hope the photographs we created will keep stealing theirs for decades to come.

Here’s the quiet truth no one tells guests before an Indian or Indian-American wedding:

You’re not just watching.
You’re participating.
Not with choreography or rituals — but with presence.

Indian weddings move differently.
They breathe differently.
They carry meaning in moments that don’t announce themselves.

When guests arrive expecting efficiency, cues, or constant explanation, tension builds — and the couple feels it.

What actually matters?
Respect.
Patience.
Openness.
That’s it.

This post isn’t about rules or etiquette.
It’s about showing up with curiosity instead of expectations — and why that one shift changes everything for the couple at the center of it all.

There’s what you see on wedding day.
And then there’s everything that makes us the photographers we are.

This channel is where we share the in-between —
the building, the learning, the late nights,
the marriage that has carried us through nearly two decades of photographing other people’s love stories.

We’re still very much in weddings.
Still shooting.
Still telling stories.
Still showing up for our couples.
But here, you’ll also see how we live, work, problem-solve, and grow together behind the camera —
because who we are off a wedding day shapes how we show up on one.

If you’re planning a wedding,
work in the wedding industry,
or simply love honest conversations about partnership, creativity, and building a life together —
you’ll fit right in.

Thanksgiving Eve feels extra tender this year.

Grateful for the families we were born into — and the families we’ve built through brides, grooms, parents, friends, vendors, and our SAWL community.

You’ve welcomed us like your own, and we carry that love every day.

A little note from our hearts is live on the blog, if you are into the sappy stuff!

Yesterday I shared Birju’s baraat as a reel — the color, the music, the movement.
But today, I’m sharing the meaning behind it.

There’s so much more to that moment than drums and dancing… and I felt called to write about it — about family, lineage, belonging, and what Indian-American communities represent in this country far beyond what meets the eye.

If you’ve ever looked at a baraat and wondered what you’re really witnessing — or if you believe America is at its best when we understand each other a little more — this one is worth reading.

Some Vidai's feel ceremonial…
and then there are Vidaiis like this.

Palak and her grandfather — a moment that says everything without a single word.
You could feel the attachment, the history, the love that only a grandparent carries.

Vidai isn’t just a goodbye.
It’s generations holding on… and letting go… all at once.

What makes a South Asian fusion wedding fusion?
Hint: It’s not just about skin tone or who’s marrying outside the culture.

Fusion happens when:
✨ Two Indian families speak different languages
✨ Two regional traditions meet under one mandap
✨ Two religions blend with respect
✨ Two American upbringings reinterpret cultural roots
✨ Two worlds — any worlds — choose love over labels

This is why we chose this niche.
Because fusion isn’t a buzzword.
It’s the lived experience of so many Indian-American couples navigating identity, culture, family, and love — all at once.

Today’s blog touches the real heart of fusion weddings, including:

✨ How wardrobe, rituals & food carry generational meaning
✨ Why family dynamics are the true fusion challenge
✨ What makes these weddings emotionally rich and unforgettable
If you’re planning a fusion or Indian-American wedding — or simply love seeing two worlds become one — this one is for you.
