Lakshmi and Shyam celebrated their wedding in Bangalore India in grand style bringing the reception party home to Washington DC in order to allow local family and friends to celebrate their union. Sometimes life turns you into something you never planned to be…
For me, it was the outsider who somehow became the interpreter — the person South Asian brides turn to when they’re carrying more than they can say out loud.
It’s taken nearly 30 years inside this culture, loving it, learning it, laughing with it, and growing through it… but I wouldn’t trade a single lesson.
