2 of 25: Jennifer and Jared @ the Four Seasons, Washington DC

Our second bride till Christmas is the lovely Mrs. Jennifer and her handsome better half Jared! Jennifer and Jared are probably our 2nd ever couple in which we were hired to cover their wedding day, but had not met them during the consultation at our studio. For us this is a rarity as our brides are usually the decision makers when it comes to the photography part of thier wedding. However, instead we met with Jennifer’s parents Joan and Alan and let me tell you that it was like meeting a couple of old friends as they came to the studio based off of a strong referral and even brought in the pooch to see us! By the end of the consultation we thought we knew Jennifer and Jared as well.

It was on their engagement session that we met them for the first time and fell in love with Jennifer and Jared as a couple, they both have this smile that just lights up when they are with each other, it’s difficult to even take a bad picture of these two simply because of how radiant they were!

Their wedding was at the gorgeous Four Seasons in Washington DC and coordinated by the wonderful and talented Sandi Hoffman.

Jennifer has a heart as big as her smile, when you are around her its contagious and very hard not to love her. It was our distinct pleasure to be asked to photograph Joan and Alan’s daughters wedding and an added bonus that Jared was the lucky groom!

Here’s the quiet truth no one tells guests before an Indian or Indian-American wedding:

You’re not just watching.
You’re participating.
Not with choreography or rituals — but with presence.

Indian weddings move differently.
They breathe differently.
They carry meaning in moments that don’t announce themselves.

When guests arrive expecting efficiency, cues, or constant explanation, tension builds — and the couple feels it.

What actually matters?
Respect.
Patience.
Openness.
That’s it.

This post isn’t about rules or etiquette.
It’s about showing up with curiosity instead of expectations — and why that one shift changes everything for the couple at the center of it all.

There’s what you see on wedding day.
And then there’s everything that makes us the photographers we are.

This channel is where we share the in-between —
the building, the learning, the late nights,
the marriage that has carried us through nearly two decades of photographing other people’s love stories.

We’re still very much in weddings.
Still shooting.
Still telling stories.
Still showing up for our couples.
But here, you’ll also see how we live, work, problem-solve, and grow together behind the camera —
because who we are off a wedding day shapes how we show up on one.

If you’re planning a wedding,
work in the wedding industry,
or simply love honest conversations about partnership, creativity, and building a life together —
you’ll fit right in.

It’s family, food, memories, and the people we carry with us — both near and far.

Today’s South Asian Wedded Life episode holds space for engagement, family dynamics, Indo-American life, and the emotions that surface when love and legacy meet.

Sending love to everyone navigating the season in their own way.
