The Day Before Thanksgiving: A Note From Our Family to Yours

By Amy & Srinu Regeti — The Regeti’s | South Asian Wedded Life (SAWL)

There’s something special about the day before Thanksgiving — that soft hum in the air when everyone begins to slow down, gather close, and remember who their people are.
For us, this moment always brings reflection. Not just on the families we were born into, but the families we’ve built along the way — in the wedding aisle, behind the camera, in vendor rooms, in hotel hallways at 2 a.m., and inside the beautiful, chaotic world of South Asian weddings.

We often say we’re more than photographers, but what we really mean is:
we’re a family that grew because you opened the door.

Because every time a bride trusted us with her moments, every time a groom welcomed us with his closest friends, every time a parent pulled us aside to thank us, every time a vendor team treated us like one of their own — our world expanded.

To Our Brides and Grooms

You’ve invited us into once-in-a-lifetime chapters.
You’ve allowed us to witness culture, emotion, tenderness, and truth in ways that have shaped how we see love itself.
You’ve shared your families, your stories, your vulnerabilities, your traditions — and we carry those with us.
Your trust is the greatest gift our small business could ever receive.

To the Families Who Stand Behind Them

Your blessings, your affection, your chai breaks, your kind words, your “beta, have you eaten?” questions — they stay with us long after the galleries are delivered.
You’ve treated us like extended relatives, not vendors passing through.
That’s a rare grace, and we feel it every single time.

To the Vendor Teams — Our Industry Family

You’re the people we spend 12-14 hour days with.
The ones who share the umbrellas in the rain, the quick snacks between ceremonies, the exhausted laughs during midnight load-outs.
We’ve built friendships that feel like lifelines — a network of people we admire, trust, and rely on.
You are a vital part of our story.

And To the SAWL Community

Celebrating wedded life with all those within the South Asian Indian and Fusion wedding spectrum. Where interracial, biracial, multicultural and multi faith families can safely share, vent, learn and embrace their unique lifestyles

You’re the heartbeat of everything we’re building next.
SAWL was born from the years of conversations we’ve had with brides, couples, families, and vendors — the shared experiences, the questions that never got answered, the pressure points no one talked about, and the beauty that deserves to be celebrated.
Our hope is that SAWL becomes more than a platform —
a community that uplifts, informs, connects, and gives back to the very people who helped build us.

From Our Family to Yours

01 03 2023 0101

As a small business, every inquiry, every booking, every review, every share, every kind word — they don’t just support our livelihood. They support our family, our dreams, and our ability to keep showing up with heart in this industry we love so deeply.

Tomorrow, as tables fill and loved ones come together, we hope you feel surrounded by the people who built you — and the people you chose.
We certainly do.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve,
With love and gratitude,

South Asian Wedding Life- SAWL

Living between two worlds isn’t easy — even after 30 years of it.

One thing I’ve learned being married into an Indian family is this:

You can love a culture deeply… without carrying the emotional weight of all its expectations.

Sometimes we take on roles — mediator, peacemaker, translator — simply because we’re the ones who “get it.”

But here’s your reset for the week:

You’re not responsible for holding everything together alone.
Not every misunderstanding needs your fixing.
Not every expectation needs your yes.

Ask yourself today:

“Is this mine to carry, or did I pick it up because I always do?”
New SAWL blog is live with a perspective only someone living between cultures can offer.

Start the week with clarity and intention. ✨ Link to BOOK can be found in BIO

Sundays were made for slowing down… and for tuning back into you.

If the week has been full of opinions, expectations, or decisions that feel heavier than joyful, consider this your gentle reminder: you’re allowed to pause. You’re allowed to breathe. And you’re absolutely allowed to plan a wedding that feels like yours at its core.

This little moment from Rituals & Reflections always feels right on a day like today:

“Your wedding will ask many things of you — patience, presence, compromise…
but the one thing it will never take from you is your voice.”

So if today is your planning day, give yourself permission to approach it with clarity, calm, and softness.

And if you ever need a little guidance along the way… We’re right here. ✨
