Shruthi and Gaurav’s Wedding Reception | Westfields Marriott, Chantilly, Virginia

Shruthi and Gaurav’s reception at the Westfield’s Marriott to celebrate the wedding that recently took place in Indian was nothing shy of fun! It’s truly amazing how much opposites do attract. Shruthi has a very similar personality to my own that she seems to come off as outgoing, daring, spontaneous and Gaurav the more conservative, safe one very much like Srinu.

I can’t say that I have ever met two couples that were ever the same nor who had the same ideas for their wedding day, often enough what works for some doesn’t work for others and stylistically not everyone thinks like the next. In Shruthi and Gaurav’s case I think their party here with family and friends was super important to allow everyone who wasn’t able to be in India with them to celebrate here in the states with them. Shruthi was so independent in getting herself ready that I literally had to slow her down for capture as everything was happening in parallel. Sometimes its just that extra reminder our girls need to take a breath and enjoy this moment as they all become memories way to fast.

    Yesterday I shared Birju’s baraat as a reel — the color, the music, the movement.
    But today, I’m sharing the meaning behind it.

    There’s so much more to that moment than drums and dancing… and I felt called to write about it — about family, lineage, belonging, and what Indian-American communities represent in this country far beyond what meets the eye.
