Kimberly and David @ Riverdale Manor in Lancaster, PA!

Beautiful sums up the whole day, well almost! Totally felt like we were completely on vacation from the awesome private accomodations that the two took care of for us to include a welcome basket of goodies and information for a few hand picked places to eat locally as Srinu and I do not eat meat on Saturday’s, all the way to having our very own seating card and table at the reception! Talk about feeling more like a guest, we were totally amazed at the warmth and love that these two showed us on what was their very special day. Meals are always an awkward part of the day for most of us as we certainly would not want to impose that the couple must feed their vendors it is certainly appreciated and even more so when they don’t give you what most “caterers” call a “vendor meal” if most of the brides saw the option, they themselves would not eat it. To say the least most of us are not too thrilled when provided a “vendor meal” option, it’s better to simply eat the protein bars in the bag 😉 if you know what I mean. Enough on that! Certainly don’t want it to seem like a rant, I just don’t think many of the clients are aware of what is even given.

Back to the happy couple and extremely happy photographers who wished they could have stayed in Lancaster for just a few more days. We have lots of stuff still to post but wanted to get this wedding up as we still have the one from last weekend to blog!

Dave and Kim radiate their own love for one another to everyone around them. It is so strong that you can feel it by walking into the same room as them both. You can certainly see the closeness in the family as you look through the images. One of our favs being when Kim’s Dad was trying to love her up with some Daddy kisses! David was ever so sweet as you watched him on the bench with the boys reciting his vows that he had memorized to Kimberly’s oldest nephew… he was so nervous, yet so confident about what he had to say to her, it was tear jerking to say the least. The whole evening through was full of surprises from David’s Dad singing their first dance song and Kimberly’s father stripping for everyone, kind of anyway, he had underneath this shirt that said, I survived Kimberly and David’s wedding and the date, or something close to that… hearing her Dad tell everyone that they had Kimberly thinking she was adopted for quite some time when she was younger… it was a hoot! We certainly hope that the two of them keep in touch with us here after to share their adventures as David may enter into politics, who knows he could very well be our next President one day, watch out world!

On a side note: The young lady below with the box of cigars … that is a bride of ours Karen from 2006! Has not changed one bit! It was so great seeing her and Mike after what feels like forever!

Here’s the quiet truth no one tells guests before an Indian or Indian-American wedding:

You’re not just watching.
You’re participating.
Not with choreography or rituals — but with presence.

Indian weddings move differently.
They breathe differently.
They carry meaning in moments that don’t announce themselves.

When guests arrive expecting efficiency, cues, or constant explanation, tension builds — and the couple feels it.

What actually matters?
Respect.
Patience.
Openness.
That’s it.

This post isn’t about rules or etiquette.
It’s about showing up with curiosity instead of expectations — and why that one shift changes everything for the couple at the center of it all.

There’s what you see on wedding day.
And then there’s everything that makes us the photographers we are.

This channel is where we share the in-between —
the building, the learning, the late nights,
the marriage that has carried us through nearly two decades of photographing other people’s love stories.

We’re still very much in weddings.
Still shooting.
Still telling stories.
Still showing up for our couples.
But here, you’ll also see how we live, work, problem-solve, and grow together behind the camera —
because who we are off a wedding day shapes how we show up on one.

If you’re planning a wedding,
work in the wedding industry,
or simply love honest conversations about partnership, creativity, and building a life together —
you’ll fit right in.

Thanksgiving Eve feels extra tender this year.

Grateful for the families we were born into — and the families we’ve built through brides, grooms, parents, friends, vendors, and our SAWL community.

You’ve welcomed us like your own, and we carry that love every day.

A little note from our hearts is live on the blog, if you are into the sappy stuff!

Yesterday I shared Birju’s baraat as a reel — the color, the music, the movement.
But today, I’m sharing the meaning behind it.

There’s so much more to that moment than drums and dancing… and I felt called to write about it — about family, lineage, belonging, and what Indian-American communities represent in this country far beyond what meets the eye.

If you’ve ever looked at a baraat and wondered what you’re really witnessing — or if you believe America is at its best when we understand each other a little more — this one is worth reading.

Some Vidai's feel ceremonial…
and then there are Vidaiis like this.

Palak and her grandfather — a moment that says everything without a single word.
You could feel the attachment, the history, the love that only a grandparent carries.

Vidai isn’t just a goodbye.
It’s generations holding on… and letting go… all at once.

What makes a South Asian fusion wedding fusion?
Hint: It’s not just about skin tone or who’s marrying outside the culture.

Fusion happens when:
✨ Two Indian families speak different languages
✨ Two regional traditions meet under one mandap
✨ Two religions blend with respect
✨ Two American upbringings reinterpret cultural roots
✨ Two worlds — any worlds — choose love over labels

This is why we chose this niche.
Because fusion isn’t a buzzword.
It’s the lived experience of so many Indian-American couples navigating identity, culture, family, and love — all at once.

Today’s blog touches the real heart of fusion weddings, including:

✨ How wardrobe, rituals & food carry generational meaning
✨ Why family dynamics are the true fusion challenge
✨ What makes these weddings emotionally rich and unforgettable
If you’re planning a fusion or Indian-American wedding — or simply love seeing two worlds become one — this one is for you.
