UPDATE: Eat, Drink, and be Ferried….. Engaged! in Washington

Unfortunately due to inclement weather, this event is being re-scheduled. Will keep you posted.

Engaged! Magazine is excited to announce the most fabulous bridal event for 2010: Engaged! in Washington will be held Friday, February 5, 2010, 5pm – 10pm.

The first event of its kind, Engaged! in Washington will be held at FIVE of the city’s premiere wedding venues: The Four Seasons Hotel, The Hay-Adams, The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis Hotel, and The Willard Intercontinental Hotel. From 5pm to 10pm, couples can arrive at any of the above properties and experience each venue as it would look for an actual wedding, meet the people that make fabulous weddings happen, linger and look, ooh and aah, and then take a limo bus to the next venue for more eye candy!

Photographers at each venue will take portraits, wedding planners and florists are designing knock-out spaces to wow guests, bands and DJs will play music, models from area bridal salons will be wearing the latest bridal fashion, hair and make-up artists will work their magic on attendees â€“ first come, first served! We want couples to ‘engage’ with the finest wedding professionals and be visually moved by the evening’s events. Sample the food and drink champagne and donâ€™t worry about parking or transportation….Reston Limousine will shuttle guests all evening to each site, rotating in 30 minute increments! Engaged! in Washington promises to be an experience!

Bhavya & Jayant’s South Asian Indian engagement celebration at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, Virginia was filled with easy laughter, meaningful conversations, and the kind of togetherness that reminds you what these moments are really about.

Swapna & Hari’s engagement ceremony and everything this moment truly means in a Hindu/South Asian family.

Their celebration took place at a small clubhouse with only their closest people, and honestly? Those intimate spaces are where you see a family’s truth… the love, the expectations, the tenderness, the growth — all without the noise.

So many people outside our culture don’t realize this, but a Hindu engagement ceremony isn’t just a “party.”

It’s the moment two families formally bless the union.
It’s the first public acknowledgement of the couple.
It’s promises made with elders present.
It’s tradition meeting the future.

Some families celebrate it quietly.
Some turn it into a mini wedding reception.
But the heart behind it never changes.

And watching Swapna & Hari together… it was like watching poetry before it learned to speak.
