Welcome to The Regeti’s Journal | Luxury Indian American, South Asian Wedding Photography, Family, Culture & Legacy

Welcome to Our Journal

If you have found your way here for the very first time, welcome.

Maybe you landed here because you are newly engaged. Maybe you are planning a South Asian, Indian American, fusion, multicultural, or deeply family-centered wedding. Maybe you are a planner, a parent, a vendor, or someone simply trying to understand what makes wedding photography feel meaningful long after the day itself has passed.

However you arrived, we are glad you are here.

We are Amy and Srinu Regeti, fondly known as The Regeti’s. We are a husband-and-wife photography team based in Northern Virginia, serving couples and families throughout the DC, Maryland, Virginia area and beyond.

Amy and Srinu Regeti, The Regeti’s, a husband-and-wife photography team based in Northern Virginia.

For more than two decades, we have photographed weddings, families, traditions, emotions, chaos, joy, pressure, beauty, and all the small in-between moments that often become the most treasured images later.

And while we love beautiful portraits, gorgeous details, intentional design, and refined celebrations, our work has never been about making life look like something it was not.

It has always been about documenting the truth of what was there.

The love.
The family.
The relationships.
The cultural layers.
The emotional weight.
The quiet glances.
The loud celebrations.
The people who showed up.
The people who held you together.
The people who made the day matter.

That is what we care about most.

Why This Journal Exists

This journal is not here just to show pretty pictures, although there will certainly be plenty of those.

It is here to share.

To educate.
To guide.
To give perspective.
To tell stories.
To tell the truth.

It is a place where we will share both the professional and the personal, because for us, those two things have always been deeply connected.

You will find wedding advice here, yes.

But you will also find our thoughts, our experiences, our lessons learned, our behind-the-scenes stories, our family reflections, our business perspective, and the pieces of life that shape how we see the world through our cameras.

After photographing weddings for over 20 years, especially within the South Asian, Indian American, and fusion wedding space, we have seen a lot.

We have seen trends come and go.

We have seen couples feel overwhelmed by expectations.

We have seen families trying their best to honor tradition while still making space for who their children are becoming.

We have seen brides torn between what looks good online and what actually feels right in real life.

We have seen timelines fall apart, families rally together, planners save the day, ceremonies run late, grandparents steal the show, and couples breathe for the first time only after the last event is over.

We have seen the beauty.

But we have also seen the pressure.

And that is why we write.

Because couples deserve more than inspiration. They deserve wisdom.

And people deserve more than a polished highlight reel. They deserve honesty, connection, and a place where stories still matter.

What You Will Find Here

Here, you will find wedding advice that is honest, practical, and rooted in real experience.

You will find posts about South Asian weddings, Indian American weddings, fusion celebrations, family formals, timelines, engagement sessions, albums, photography style, wedding trends, emotional moments, planning mistakes, cultural expectations, and the details that actually matter.

You will also find personal posts about us.

About our marriage.

Our family.

Our life as an intercultural couple.

Our thoughts as parents, business owners, photographers, and people who are still learning, still growing, and still deeply moved by the stories we are invited into.

Because we believe that knowing who is behind the camera matters.

Photography is not just technical skill.

It is trust.

It is instinct.

It is emotional awareness.

It is knowing when to step in, when to step back, when to guide, and when to simply let a moment breathe.

That is especially true when photographing weddings where family is deeply involved, culture is layered, and every event carries more meaning than what can be seen on the surface.

Who We Photograph For

We photograph couples who value family.

Couples who want their wedding documented beautifully, but honestly.

Couples who care about the people in the room as much as the decor in the room.

Couples who understand that wedding photography is not just for Instagram, not just for a gallery, and not just for today.

It is for the version of you who will look back years from now.

It is for your parents.

It is for your grandparents.

It is for your children.

It is for the family members who may not always be here, but whose presence in your photographs will matter more than you can possibly know in the moment.

That belief has shaped everything about how we photograph.

We do not want to simply create images that are impressive.

We want to create images that become important.

A Little About Us

We are not just business partners.

We are husband and wife.

We are parents.

We are an intercultural family ourselves.

We understand what it means to carry more than one culture, more than one expectation, more than one way of seeing the world.

Srinu is Indian. I am American. Together, our life has been shaped by the beauty, humor, complexity, and occasional chaos of blending cultures, families, traditions, and identities.

That lived experience matters in our work.

Because when we photograph multicultural and South Asian weddings, we are not looking at them from the outside with curiosity. We are looking at them with respect, familiarity, and a deep understanding that every family does things a little differently.

There is no such thing as “just another Indian wedding.”

There is no such thing as “just another fusion wedding.”

Every couple has a story.
Every family has a rhythm.
Every wedding has its own emotional center.

Our job is to find it, honor it, and preserve it.

Beyond Photography

Over the years, our work has grown beyond photography.

Because the truth is, couples and families often need more than beautiful images.

They need guidance.

They need education.

They need honest conversations.

They need someone willing to say the things that are helpful, even when they are not always the things people are saying out loud.

That is part of why we created SAWL — South Asian Wedded Life.

SAWL is where we continue many of these conversations through storytelling, education, podcast episodes, resources, and honest discussions around weddings, culture, marriage, family expectations, planning pressure, and what it means to build a life between traditions.

It is our way of serving beyond the wedding day.

Because South Asian, Indian American, and fusion weddings are not simply about timelines, outfits, decor, and photography coverage.

They are about families.

They are about identity.

They are about honoring where you come from while still making space for who you are becoming.

They are about love, pressure, expectation, joy, tradition, change, and the very real emotional weight that comes with bringing two people, and often two families, together.

Through SAWL, we are building a place where those conversations can live.

Our Books, Guides, and Resources

We have also created books, guides, and resources for couples who want to feel more prepared, more grounded, and more aware as they move through the wedding planning process.

Some are practical.

Some are reflective.

Some are deeply personal.

All of them are created from the same place: more than 20 years of photographing weddings, walking alongside families, and seeing firsthand what couples often wish they had understood earlier.

Our resources are not created to make wedding planning feel more complicated.

They are created to make it feel more clear.

To help couples ask better questions.

To help families understand what matters.

To help brides and grooms recognize the difference between what simply looks beautiful online and what will still feel meaningful years from now.

To help couples think through the parts of the wedding experience that often get rushed, overlooked, or misunderstood.

Because we believe education is part of service.

And if something we have learned over the last two decades can help a couple feel more confident, more seen, or more prepared, then it deserves to be shared.

So yes, this journal is where we will share our stories.

But it is also one piece of a much larger mission: to help couples and families feel educated, supported, and reminded that their wedding is not just a production.

It is the beginning of a legacy.

What We Believe

We believe wedding photography should feel timeless without feeling boring.

We believe beautiful images should still feel like you.

We believe your wedding should not be reduced to trends.

We believe your family deserves to be photographed with care.

We believe culture should be documented respectfully, not treated like decoration.

We believe real moments will always outlast staged perfection.

We believe luxury is not only how something looks, but how deeply it is cared for.

We believe education matters.

We believe family matters.

We believe legacy matters.

And we believe the best photographs are the ones that bring you right back to how it felt.

Stay Awhile

So whether you are here to learn, plan, compare, dream, or simply get a better sense of who we are, we hope this journal becomes a place you can return to often.

A place where you feel informed.

A place where you feel seen.

A place where you feel permission to care about what matters most to you, even when the wedding world is shouting a hundred other things at once.

Explore the stories.

Read the advice.

Listen to the conversations.

Find the resources that serve you.

And when you are ready, we would be honored to walk alongside you in whatever way feels right.

We are The Regeti’s.

We photograph love, family, culture, and legacy with honesty, intention, and heart.

And we are so glad you found us.

There is something incredibly special about spending a quiet weekend morning with a couple before the rush of wedding day begins.

No timelines.
No guests waiting.
No pressure.

Just the two of them walking through the streets of Georgetown, holding hands along the waterfront, laughing, talking, and slowly settling into the comfort of being photographed together.

What our couples may not always realize is how much this time means to us, too.

Engagement sessions are not just about creating beautiful images. They are about connection. Trust. Conversation. Learning how two people love each other, how they found one another, what matters to them, what makes them laugh, and what kind of life they are building together.

And this reel felt even more meaningful because the song used here was created exclusively for them.

Srinu and I produced it together after spending time with them, listening to pieces of their story, and learning more about who they are as a couple. We wanted the music to feel personal, emotional, and true to them — not just something placed over their images, but something created from the experience of being with them.

The song is called:

“Pyaar Dosti Hai”
प्यार दोस्ती है

Love is friendship.

And truly, isn’t that the heart of it?

The kind of love that lasts is not only built on romance. It is built on friendship. On safety. On understanding. On quiet loyalty. On choosing someone who becomes your calm place, your steady hand, your closest companion, and your home.

To our beautiful couple, thank you for allowing us into this small but meaningful piece of your story. The honor and privilege were entirely ours.

As wedding photographers, we know photographs like this don’t happen because someone wears a beautiful outfit.

They happen because dozens of people create the conditions for a moment to unfold naturally, and then a photographer has the awareness to recognize it before it disappears.

The planner creates space.

The stylist creates harmony.

The makeup artist prepares confidence.

The family creates context.

The couple brings emotion.

And the photographer turns all of it into memory.

So while the world is admiring Rashmika’s veil—and rightfully so—I also want to acknowledge the artist who helped the world see it.Because photographs that make millions of people stop scrolling are rarely accidents.

They are the result of preparation, trust, collaboration, and an artist who knows exactly when to press the shutter.

    In the middle of everything—
the movement, the music, the energy before the ceremony begins—
there’s a moment where it all quiets.
Ardaas.
Heads covered.
Hands folded.
Space that was just full of celebration…
now grounded in stillness.
It’s not loud.
It’s not for show.
It’s a moment of humility.
Of gratitude.
Of asking for guidance before stepping into something bigger than yourself.
And no matter how many weddings we’ve witnessed…
this part never feels routine.
Because you can feel it. #SouthAsianWeddings #IndianWeddings #PunjabiWedding #SikhWedding

    There’s a moment right before everything begins…
where nothing is happening on the outside—
but everything is shifting underneath it.
Families gathering.
Expectations settling in.
Emotions no one quite knows how to name.
You can feel it in the way people stand a little closer.
In the way conversations soften.
In the quiet glances exchanged between the ones who understand what this day really means.
This isn’t just waiting.
This is the threshold.
The space between what was…
and everything that’s about to change.
And if you’re not paying attention—
you’ll miss it.
But if you are…
this is where the story actually begins.

    Two mothers.
Meeting in the middle of everything that brought them here.
Different paths.
Different traditions.
The same reason.
Because at some point…
it stops being about how it’s done—
and becomes about who it’s for.
This is what a wedding holds beneath it all.
Not just a union…
but a quiet understanding that love is bigger than everything else. #SouthAsianWeddings #IndianWeddingCeremony #FusionWedding

Weddings like this aren’t just about the couple.
They’re about everyone who brought them here.
The parents who carried the weight quietly.
The grandparents who’ve been waiting to witness this moment.
The siblings, the laughter, the history standing just a few steps away.
This is why how your wedding is photographed matters.
Because it’s not just your story being told…
it’s theirs too.
What we create is meant to be felt across generations —
images your family connects to,
and ones you return to years later and still feel.
For us, this has never been just about photography.
It’s about understanding people.
Listening.
Knowing when to step in… and when to disappear.
After 26 years together, and years of documenting weddings side by side,
that part comes naturally.
If you’re looking for something that feels real,
something your whole family will appreciate —
we’d love to hear what you’re planning.#SouthAsianWeddings #IndianWeddingCeremony #HinduWedding

    There’s a moment… right before everything begins.
Before the music shifts.
Before the entrance.
Before all eyes turn in one direction.
It’s the waiting.
Holding what’s been prepared.
Standing beside the people who matter most.
Feeling the weight of what’s about to unfold — without saying a word.
You’ll see smiles like this…
but there’s so much more happening underneath.
Anticipation.
Pride.
A quiet kind of emotion that doesn’t ask for attention — but deserves to be remembered.
And these are the moments we pay attention to.
Not just the grand entrance…
but everything that leads up to it.
Because that’s where the story really begins.
If you’re planning a day filled with meaning — not just moments —
we’d love to hear what you’re envisioning. #SouthAsianWeddings #IndianWeddingCeremony #HinduWedding

The soft chime of a bell…
it’s one of the first things you hear as you enter a Hindu ceremony.
Not loud.
Not demanding.
Just enough to shift something within you.
It’s said to quiet the mind…
to bring presence into the space…
to mark that what’s about to unfold isn’t just an event — it’s something deeper.
And what we’ve come to love most isn’t just the tradition itself…
…it’s watching our brides carry it forward.
Some grew up surrounded by it.
Some are rediscovering it.
Some are learning it for the first time.
But in that moment —
as they step into the mandap,
as the bell rings softly in the background —
there’s a quiet connection to something bigger than the day itself.
Not forced.
Not performative.
Just… felt.
That’s the beauty of it.
Traditions like this don’t disappear.
They evolve, they travel, they live on —
through the people who choose to hold onto them in their own way.
And getting to witness that…
never feels ordinary.

    Not every moment is soft.
Not every presence is quiet.
Some walk in and shift the room without saying a word.
The confidence.
The way she carries it.
The way the fabric moves like it knows it’s being watched.
This isn’t about stealing attention…
it’s about owning your place in the story.
Because weddings aren’t just about two people.
They’re about the energy every person brings into it —
the sisters, the friends, the ones who show up fully as themselves.
And these are the moments we look for too.
Not just the expected…
but the ones that feel a little editorial, a little bold, a little unforgettable.
If you’re building a wedding that holds space for all of that —
we see it, and we know exactly how to capture it.
2027 is already taking shape.
