Part I: Ruchi and Dinesh – Hindu Ceremony at American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland

A beautiful Hindu Ceremony in Baltimore, Maryland at the American Visionary Art Museum! Ruchi and Dinesh celebrated their wedding in grand style as they took part in two days of wedding ceremonies that embraced both families faiths. In a lot of ways this hits home for us as Srinu and I also have embraced such a lifestyle and we want to be sure when our children marry, regardless of who they marry we will represent both of our faiths and cultures.

This wedding was coordinated and flawlessly executed by Ani Sandhu and his team at Ace of Events, just saying that alone let’s you know that this South Asian wedding was not only on time, but that everything was provided in a “5-Star” way. For us working with a planner simplifies your event, your life and can free you from worry on the wedding day itself because the team is there to handle everything from point A to point B!

Every year there is always something new – whether it be the iPhone’s release, the Tootsie Roll, the Electric Slide – something that sends that year of weddings into a world of remembrance, this past year was that of “Gangnam Style”… and yes Dinesh made his bridal party share a little of their skills, let’s just say he is so lucky to have such outgoing friends! I am convinced that he could have convinced them to do just about anything he asked… now that is some brotherly love!

Living between two worlds isn’t easy — even after 30 years of it.

One thing I’ve learned being married into an Indian family is this:

You can love a culture deeply… without carrying the emotional weight of all its expectations.

Sometimes we take on roles — mediator, peacemaker, translator — simply because we’re the ones who “get it.”

But here’s your reset for the week:

You’re not responsible for holding everything together alone.
Not every misunderstanding needs your fixing.
Not every expectation needs your yes.

Ask yourself today:

“Is this mine to carry, or did I pick it up because I always do?”
New SAWL blog is live with a perspective only someone living between cultures can offer.

Start the week with clarity and intention. ✨ Link to BOOK can be found in BIO

Sundays were made for slowing down… and for tuning back into you.

If the week has been full of opinions, expectations, or decisions that feel heavier than joyful, consider this your gentle reminder: you’re allowed to pause. You’re allowed to breathe. And you’re absolutely allowed to plan a wedding that feels like yours at its core.

This little moment from Rituals & Reflections always feels right on a day like today:

“Your wedding will ask many things of you — patience, presence, compromise…
but the one thing it will never take from you is your voice.”

So if today is your planning day, give yourself permission to approach it with clarity, calm, and softness.

And if you ever need a little guidance along the way… We’re right here. ✨
