Halloween at “The Regeti’s”

Two Power Rangers, a Fair Maiden and Barney and what do we get? Well we will leave that creative thought process to you! However we took our four kids Brittney (akak:the Maiden), Bradley (aka: Red Ranger), Brijesh (aka: Green Ranger) and Bhavika (aka: Barney) out trick-or-treating this evening, you could not have asked for more beautiful weather then what we had!

As we were about to walk out of the door a few trick-or-treaters stopped by and if you could have been present during the upset of our two year old’s devastation that we actually gave our trick-or-treat candy out it was almost too hysterical to watch!

Here are some shots of of evening and our Rangers, Maiden, and Barney!

This one broke my heart… and shook something deeper.

When I read about the tragic killing of Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, I felt grief —
but like so many brown and immigrant families, I also felt fear.

The man who took her life was brown.

And history has taught us exactly what happens next.
Backlash.
Suspicion.
Stereotypes.
Innocent families paying for one man’s evil.

So in today’s episode of SAWL, I opened up a conversation that so many have quietly held inside:

💔 Why tragedies like this hit brown families differently
💔 The fear of being blamed for something you had NOTHING to do with
💔 What it means to raise brown children in moments like this
💔 And why we must not let this spark more hate

If you’ve ever felt this fear — or if you’re hearing it for the first time —
you need to watch this one.

After a heartfelt conversation with close family friends this week, one truth stayed with us:

The world is changing — but adapting doesn’t mean abandoning who we are.
Multicultural families everywhere are trying to balance tradition, identity, and the pace of a world that never slows down.

Today over at The Regeti's & SAWL blog we unpack that with love, honesty, and a whole lot of understanding the world we know can evolve.
